Update on My Life

| | Comments (0) | TrackBacks (0)
Havent been updating for a while because acer died on me and I had to send it for repair. So the Japan blog is still not done yet but below's a brief outline of what I've been doing the past few days.

SB3 Outing at Manhattan Fish Market

Had a SB3 outing at Manhattan Fish Market on the last Friday of June to celebrate Tommie's birthday. I think that MFM is almost similar to Fish & Co just that the latter's menu has more choices. Nonetheless, the food at MFM was great! The Seafood Platter for Two that I shared with Ray was really worth the money! There were 5 oysters, 4 prawns, 2 pieces of fish, lots of calamari and rice. (Ok, stop laughing at me for counting the amount of food.) Even the weird long bean salad was good. In fact, it actually tasted like french fries. -_-.

Kym, Me, Li Ming. The three of us havent met up for like ages~!

Tommie eager to eat his birthday cake?

Ray trying to feed Kym a piece of the Tiramisu cake but didnt manage to do so.

Although not everyone turned up for this outing, it was still a quite fun one nevertheless.

After dinner, we went to Novus at the National Museum(or wherever it was, cant remember) to have a drink. I had a very sweet lychee martini. Nicolle's guava martini tasted like...guava juice and Kym's drink tasted like Chinese medicine. Kar Fai's drink was even better. It looked like milo dinosaur. Haha.

NDP 2007 2nd Rehearsal

Went to the NDP 2007 Rehearsal with Tommie, Li Ming, her brother and his friend. NDP 2007 2nd Rehearsal was kind of sucky, sad to say. First of all, the weather that day was crazily warm and there was no wind at all! Secondly, not all performers were there so when they were supposed to appear, there were people holding up placards instead. For those who actually turned up, they were lip-synching. Thirdly, there were no fireworks that day at all! How disappointing. Throughout the rehearsal, there were many hiccups and it was obvious that more rehearsals were necessary. However, I really liked the part where they introduced the VIPs and they had random people holding up placards with 'VIP' written on it. The random person who stood in for PM Lee was really funny. He was waving to the audience as if he were the real PM Lee. The audience was responsive enough to wave back to him and took photos of him too.

The weird dragonboat race with one dragonboat racing against 2 motorboats and still managed to win in the end. -_-.

Some new formation that the army has. This pose garnered much laughter from the audience instead.

Ate at Thai Express after the rehearsal. Thanks to Ray for the treat!

Out with my host family
My host family from Japan came to Singapore so I brought them around last Friday. I had high-tea with my Okaasan at Goodwood Park Hotel before going to the Singapore Art Museum. The taxi driver who drove us to the SAM was a newbie and he himself was lost while driving us there. At the SAM, we saw NJC students and my Okaasan was shocked by the colour of their uniform, commenting that their uniform looked like working clothes. Hahaha, so it's not only Singaporeans who find the NJC uniform not-that-pleasant. On the other hand, she liked the ACJC uniform. :D

Went back to the hotel they were staying in to wait for Otousan to come back from golf. OMG, Shangri-la Hotel is like so freaking posh! 2 cans of coke cost like 8 freaking dollars. So rip-off! Considering that the company's going to pay for the bill, I drank a bottle of oh-so-delicious mango juice for $8. It was so damn good.

I brought them to Vila'ge for dinner where we had sambal stingray, crayfish, buttered scallops, salad, pasta, pizza and rosti. OMG, the amount of food was just scary. Thanks to Donna for helping me test the food before I brought them there. After dinner, we walked around Takashimaya where they had their first taste of bubble tea before taking the MRT to the airport. It was kind of sad that I only had one day with them in Singapore or else I could have had brought them to more places. :( Then again, it was a fun-filled day! And...I felt quite paiseh receiving so much omiyage from them again.

The youkan-like thingy.

Akkii Lucky Cookie. Such an interesting name for the cookie, and it rhymes too! There's like a sketch of Yon-sama on the back of the box because Akkii likes watching Korean dramas. Hahaha.

07/07/07 TC Outing

Li Ming wanted to see Daryl getting posessed by Jay Chou during karaoke so Kar Fai organised a TC outing that Li Ming didnt turn up for. -___-|| Anyway, we ate at Pastamania because I had a craving for Italian food before proceeding to Kbox.

So ya, Daryl got posessed by Jay Chou once again. I wonder if Andrew is in pain or what and what caused it. Haha.

Nicolle and me.

Andrew was waving his hands to the song when the waiter outside thought that he was signalling to him and came into the room. OMG, that was seriously funny!

11/07/07 Just Outing

Went to Mussels Guys at Vivo for lunch today. Had this Seafood Special Pasta in Cream Sauce...or whatever the name was. The pasta was seriously yummlicious but ya, I just realised that I suck at eating pasta. I managed to make the cream sauce spurt out from my plate and poor Sharon seated opposite me was my victim. Paiseh!

After lunch, Karen went off early so the rest of us went to Daiso because I wanted to buy my cheapo tea. I love the cheapo tea Daiso sells! In fact, I love Daiso la, there's just so much stuff there going for only $2! After Daiso, we went to the pet shop to look at pets. OMG, they were so freaking cute but the variety of pets Vivo has pales in comparison to the Malaysia one that I went at the start of this year.

Next up was window shopping for clothes. Went to Esprit, Zara, Topshop, Forever 21 but didnt get anything at all! Sharon, Weiqi and me actually planned to walk fast enough so that Leonard and Tony would get left behind but somehow they managed to find us...no matter which shop we went to. Their radar is like damn powerful can! After that, we went to Carls Jr to sit down and chit-chat where I managed to laugh till I cried. The Christian episode never fails to make me laugh. :D

Yup, so basically that's what I did for the past few days beside work, going for Korean classes and overworking my Mac.

Rrreallly Random Photos

My internet connection's finally up after being dead from Friday. I missed surfing the net soooo much! Anyway, dont really feel like writing lots of words, so...pictures time!

AC became ACWOOD on teacher's day. Teacher's day celebration totally sucked though.

Bought all these v-u-den cds in one shot. My mum's going to kill me when the bill arrives...

Found this outside Bugis. Rather weird place to put a statue on...

Candid shot of JZ eating at VJC by Anthony. He can really eat man! He ate Anthony's, his own and my share of food...and still manages to stay so skinny...I'm jealous! Grrr. P.S.: Sorry for making JZ walk like about 7 times to the buffet table that day.

Very WTF picture. Then again, I like it. Therefore, it's up here. It's a snail by the way...no one could see that it's a snail when I showed them the photo, all thanks to my shaky hands while taking the photo. I have really shaky hands when it comes to taking photos, even for self-shot. All the nice self-shot photos in my handphone were taken by my friend...the blurry ones were by me.

Dead lizard founnd in 7.13. I never knew that lizards have reddish-brown blood. I always thought that it was supposed to be green. Thanks to Wee Keat and Shaozhen for disposing of it. No thanks to Wee Keat for describing the smell emitted from it. Lizard was squashed to death by the way.

Talking about squashed animals, I saw a squashed cat two Saturdays ago. It was totally disgusting! It got ran over by a vehicle or something and it's head was totally non-recognisable after the vehicle was done with it. All it's entrails were strewn over the road and there was a really revolting smell coming from it. This was before I went to watch a movie.

When I returned from the movie, only half of the cat was left on the road. My sister and I decided to go to the RC to inform them so that they can dispose of the body...only to find out that the RC was closed. Anyway, up to 2 Mondays ago, the cat was still on the road, only that the body was highly decomposed till the extent that it did not even remotely look like a cat anymore.

View of squashed cat far-away. Confirm hit-and-run case. Closer view of the body below...scroll if you are brave enough.

Gross! Kym must be sick to actually like this picture...

Last TC Meeting

Today's finally the last TC meeting! Ok, not that happy after all to 'graduate' from TC because TC is actually quite fun, except for the scolding part I got from Ian last year. Played mahjong with hy, Kym, jz and nic. Yes, again... hy went around taking photos of the last TC meeting and the photos can be found here: http://www.mizu-kioku.net/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=30.

Yesterday's meeting was good, except for the fact that I had a disagreement with nic. Anyway, it's kind of sad that I dont have to stay back on Thursdays anymore and that I'll be graduating from ACJC in about a few more months' time. I had such a great time in AC and made so many good friends that I dont really want to leave school. Then again, I so dont want to get retained. Haha.

I'll always remember:
-Friends in the tai-tai gang (those gossip, heartfelt thoughts and of course those air-headed things we tend to do.)
-Friends from class, even people I dislike too! (going for class is fun because of great classmates!)
-Friends from CCA (star potatoes! haha. camp.)
-Teachers, okay, except those I dislike. (thanks for all the guidance and concern!)
-Hyesung prime (all those constant stalking and nice short conversations! plus Kym's paparazzi work!)
and last but not least, those wonderful moments I had in AC with friends(this so does not include chapel)!

Today's TC meeting was fun, surprisingly. Tiffany brought chocolates and the others were eating them while Li Ming and I sat at the back of the Mac Lab and talked. The Noodles Gang was eating snacks in front of us when the auntie walked in and they rushed to clear the wrappers away. It was so hilarious. I never knew they were so scared of the auntie! Next, the auntie saw that Li Ming and I were not joining in the chocolate-eating activity and she went to tell those who were that we did not have chocolates to eat. Haha.

Surfed the net for some Shinhwa stuff and one of the Noodles Gang guy said that Eric looked like Lee Nanxing! That's like such a big insult to Eric...Following that, we listened to Bryan talk about his Body Combat experience and we couldn't stop laughing. And I finally got the thumbdrive from Daryl! Thanks :D

Went to Holland V after TC and had a great time there!

TC Camp-01 June 2005-Day 1

-Managed to pack every single thing into my small bag and realised that some of the guys' bags were even bigger than mine.
-Arrived too early, or rather, the moBlog people were late, therefore all I did was to look at the canoeing people do PT. It was totally cool though.
-Doors of Mac Lab finally opened. Watched Domoto Kyoudai that hy brought.
-Ice-breaking session. Quite interesting game. Got to know everyone's name. Got laughed at for asking too many stupid questions.
-Lunch at Holland V's BK. Tiffany's little brother is cute.
-Slept with hy in the Mac Lab. I don't know how we managed to fall asleep with all the noise in the lab though.

After waking up, Sean, hy and I went to the canteen. While seating in the canteen slacking, we saw the security guard coming out from the corridor that leads to the bookshop, with a wide smile on his face. Less than 5 minutes later, the bookshop aunty came out from the same corridor. The 3 of us were then wondering why the guard had such a satisfied look on his face and why did the bookshop aunty come back to school during the hols. Hmmn...

Dinner was pizza where each one had to pay $5. hy and I ate only 1 miserable slice and paid $2.50 instead. Pizza was delicious though. Sean, hy, U-Fong and I then borrowed cards to play Bridge, only that the two guys did not know how to play Bridge. So hy had to teach them how to do so while I watched slacked and watched PVs. Sorry hy :P While hy was teaching, Aaron invited himself to play Bridge with us. In the end, we played Cheat and bastard Daidee(however you spell that). It was quite fun though and poor U-Fong kept getting auto-bastardized because in each round he ended up cheating, unknowingly.

After card games, Sean, hy and I went to shower. On the way to the toilet, we saw a frog and moth. Moth, I can still understand why it was there, but a frog?! Why would a frog be in school when there's no water resource nearby. Well, maybe except for the swimming pool...The 3 of us showered in the girls' toilet, yes, even Sean. That was a good thing though, because there was a dead cockroach in the toilet and I made Sean covered it up with toilet paper.

Movie screening of 'The Girl Next Door'. Quite a funny show plus lots of nudity.

The 3 of us then watched Chakushinari. Koko joined us. I left to surf the net. Koko left. Sean and hy left 50min into the show because they were scared. 3 of us then returned to make the bed for sleep. I arranged tables initially but later decided to use hy's sleeping bag instead. The sleeping bag then became a matress for the 3 of us. Tried to sleep but the floor was too hard, therefore, we borrowed another sleeping bag from Aaron. However, still could not sleep, so I went to borrow cards, only to find Sean sleeping away already and hy nodding off to dreamland.

Went with Aaron to the Sky Garden to find Bryan who was sleeping there. Regretted it because I forgot that it was on the 5th floor, with no lifts leading to the place. Imagine climbing up 5 flights of stairs in the middle of the night, considering that dinner was only a slice of pizza. Scared Bryan and his friend because my hair was covering my face when I reached. They thought I just came out from Ju-on or something.

More computer playing followed. Had to look after the lab while the others went to 7-11. A bit scary though because it was quite dark and it did not help that Jun Zhong was sleeping at the back of the lab. He looked like he was in the mortuary or something, as according to Weizhi.

Returned to sleep but realised that there was no place to do so because hy's legs were occupying my space. Ended up sleeping on the tables I originally arranged.

-Slept at 5am but woke up at 7am.
-Tried to wake hy and Sean up but to no avail.
-Tried that again half-an-hour later. Succeeded in waking hy but not Sean.
-Sean sat up but continued sleeping in that position.
-Finally proceeded to Dover Market for breakfast. hy and I looked sneaky trying to take photos of the market for our project.
-Returned to the lab for more card games, internet and quizzes. I felt stupid because I took so long to understand the quizzes. Felt better because Daryl took longer.
-Tried to help the radio people do their banner but realised they havent come up with ideas for it. Since I'm not an ideas person, I went back to the lab to sleep.
-Sleeping failed because it was too noisy again. Proceeded to download Sungie videos. Love the school connection for being so speedy.

Next, went up to the sky garden with Sean and hy. Took pictures there. hy and I then shouted from the top to the people on the track downstairs. It was quite funny because the people acutally looked up. Wanted to frame Sean by shouting 'I Love You' then running away, leaving Sean there. It failed because Sean did not put his head out enough for the people to see him plus I chickened out.

hy and Sean left. Attempted to play Pool online with Nic but we did not know how to use the Mac computers to do so. Ended up playing Mahjong, which I haven't done so for a long long time since last year in China where Lisa, Shane, Bingwei and I gambled like mad. However, I realised that I suck at Online Mahjong because it happens too fast for me.

Went to Cafe Cartel to eat.
-Andrew has a weird way of applying butter.
-Water supply there is lousy.
-Got cheated on my food because the portion was so small for the cost of $11.90.
-Daryl got cheated into ordering a set meal because Aaron told him the soup was heavenly. Robyn and I thought the soup was yucky.
-Everyone watched as Aaron finished eating his order of ribs. Or rather, everyone hoped he could not finish so they could have some. It was hilarious to see Sze Wai sitting opposite Aaron when he was actually seated on the other end of the table and Jun Zhong holding a fork, all prepared to eat what's left.
-Daryl, Karfai, Bob and Robyn ordered 10 scoops of ice-cream. They didn't manage to eat all because everyone was trying to eat from them, especially Andrew and Aaron. Bob put one whole scoop into his mouth just like that. It was shocking to find out that he spat out some later, or rather, it dropped out. Even more shocking to see Jun Zhong still willing to eat the ice-cream later.

Returned to the lab only to find that the projector was still on, illuminating the lab blue in the night. It was scary. It was scarier when Weizhi and Sze Wai claimed that they saw people in the lab. I wanted to stay away from war games initially but realised that everyone was going to play. There was no way I was going to stay by myself in the lab after what WZ and SW said so I became the timekeeper and thanks to Karfai for trying to scare me by telling me what Yong told him last year. I feel bad now for letting Daryl and Aaron know where the other team was hiding.

War games ended and dog-and-bone followed, then the mafia game.

Movie screening of Chakushinari(One Missed Call). Bryan's reactions while watching the movie was funny. Show ended with everyone laughing because the show was weird. Second movie screening of Star Wars III in the Mac Lab. I could not withstand the freezing temperature in there and went opposite to watch Nurse no Oshigoto instead. Fell asleep on 3 chairs while watching.

TC Camp-03 June 2005-Day 3

-Woke up with a backache, thanks to the chairs.
-Daryl couldn't find his phone so he asked someone to call him so he could locate where it was. After finding the phone, the screen reflected 'One Missed Call'. He and Karfai went, 'One missed call from Jiahui. I'm going to know when I'm going to die.....Arrrr!' Shouldn't have let them watched Chakushinari.
-Everyone ate prata at Dover Market except me. Reason why they chose to eat at the stall was because that prata stall had an online website.
-Back to school for TC elections. Results were predictable.
-Camp ended.

The Chinese test was so badly done. Even though I had Sam and Hy seated beside me, I still think I did not do well for the test. It's going to be another round of scolding by my Chinese teacher.

In class, Li Ming noticed that Ray's zipper was not fully zipped up and she had to tell me that. So we told him,'Ray, it's open.' However, he did not seem to understand what was going on so he gave us this puzzled look. Then, Ping Hwei, who was surprisingly fast today, realised what we were talking about so he shouted, 'Ray, your (makes some hand action) is open.' Then only did Ray noticed it, following which he said, 'It's always like that.' Li Ming and I started laughing like some mad women, especially me. Plus Ping Hwei kept trying to teach me breathing exercises so I laughed even more, resulting in my face turning beetroot-red and it was extremely hot. It did not help that everyone started laughing at me after seeing my face and kept asking 'What did Ray do to you?'

Then, during Tech Council, I managed to bluff Bryan Chua that Li Ming took Korean as her mother tongue :P Some reason or other, he started talking about him having to serve NS in Singapore and Malaysia. The way he said it was so hilarious that we ended up laughing like mad again.

Daryl thought I had eyeliner on during TC. Shit, this is so bad because I did not put eyeliner on. This means...eyebags from all those late night Chinese studying...sucks.

I went for the TC outing today, surprisingly. It did not turn out that bad as expected, except that everyone was so freaking late. We were supposed to assemble at 1pm and the vice-president arrived at 1.40pm while the president arrived at 2 something. Wow, they were so early! Anyway, we went to Yoshinoya to eat and Haoyang and I had this so pai-seh miso soup drinking contest. We were supposed to use straws to drink up the miso soup. It was so idiotic.

So after that, we went to Great World City to watch a movie. Daryl paid for the movie tickets with a freaking $100 note...wtf, I've never seen a student bring a $100 with him, well, maybe not a single $100 note...

So anyway, we watched Hitch today. Quite a nice show but I prefered Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events. That's not the point. The point is that there was this uncle seated behind me with his a-peh slippers placed conveniently placed at my face level. So, I ended up smelling his pungent foot smell for the whole show till I had to sit so in front to avoid smelling so much of that poisonous gas.
Besides that smelly uncle, Daryl was crying during the movie. OMG, I so can't believe it...why would anyone cry during a comedy?

After the movie, Sean, Haoyang and I went to eat at this sushi restaurant. Hy and I ordered this nattou thingy that tasted so much like beer and we were regreting it because it cost $5.30. What a waste of money...We ended up adding pepper to it but it still tasted bad. After the nattou experience, we went to take neoprints where Sean kept avoiding the camera and we had to pull him into the photo...I love neoprints, it somehow 'deletes' all your pimples and flaws...haha
