15/02/08 - Out With Li Ming

| | Comments (0) | TrackBacks (0)

Met up with Li Ming last Friday for dinner. As it was a little too early for dinner, we decided to have dessert while waiting for the restaurants to open. Ate at Azabu Sabo and although the size of the store was really small, they had 3 of this damn expensive-looking lights in it. Dondake~

As usual, I had shiratama+azuki+ice-cream whereas Li Ming ordered this baked sweet potato topped with sesame sauce and ice-cream. I should really be more adventurous next time and try some other thing than shiratama and azuki.

Most of the Japanese restaurants were still closed after we finished the dessert so instead, we went to eat Spanish food. Whee~ My first time eating Spanish food! Great view and nice river breeze but I cant remember the name of the place we ate at. All I know that it's in Clarke Quay. Haha.

Not going to write the food names in Spanish because I obviously do not know how to do so. Anyway, this is a sausage dish. Damn good and quite a bit for 2 people.

Fried potatoes with red and green capsicums. The potatoes and capsicums were good but I didnt think that they blended well with each other.

Meatballs! Soft and very tomato-ish~

Sauteed tomatoes or something. A bit cold but wonderful at the same time.

Tomato and aubergine with parmesan cheese sprinkled on top of it. Had a totally different image in my head when I ordered this but it tasted good anyway. Would've been better if there were more cheese though. :D

Bought sesame daifuku and cha-dango from Central after dinner. Waaa~ I love wagashi~!

27/01/08 - SB3 Outing

It's 2:30am now and I cant sleep so I've decided to blog. :D

On the 27th of last month, SB3 had a little outing for Bjorn's farewell. Went to Sakae Teppanyaki at Bugis for dinner. First time there for most of us. The place was really pretty and the chef for our table was humourous.

Cooking for 8 people all at once is no easy task and in addition to that, he has to make sure that what he cooks turn out delicious. That is seriously damn difficult. I know that I cant do that because I cant even cook myself a proper meal in the first place. If I ever need to cook for 8 people, I'm sure that they will all come down with food poisoning or something.

Cooking in progress.

(Top Left) The nice salad dressed with a tangy sauce. Since it was so long ago, I cant really remember how the salad tasted exactly but I remember that the sauce was good.
(Top Right) Scallops. Not a big fan of scallops though.
(Bottom Left) The oh-my-freaking-god delicious salmon. I basically chewed like at least times for each mouthful so as to savour it slowly. Yummy~
(Bottom Right) I'm not sure if this is the actual way of making chawanmushi but it was the first time that I saw someone make it like that. So interesting! Then again, the chawanmushi was not for me so I dont know how it tasted like.

(Top Left) Chicken. Hmmn, not a big fan of chicken but cant deny that it was good.
(Top Right) Tofu. Didnt really like this dish. Or rather, didnt really like the sauce that they poured over the tofu.
(Bottom Left) Assorted mushrooms! Like the salmon, I chewed the mushrooms for damn long. Not because the mushrooms were uncooked but because they were so...mushroomy. Yes, I dont make any sense.

After dinner, we walked across Bugis Junction to this small dessert shop called 'Ji De Lai'. Gossiped/Talked while we ate dessert. We left around 9.30pm and walked Kym to Bugis Junction before proceeding to Lisa's house to play mahjong/watch soccer/play Wii.

Saw this couple on the bus where the lady rested her head on her boyfriend's shoulder and so Bjorn and Tommie decided to mimic them. The effect didnt turn out right. :D

Stayed at Lisa's house till 1+. Tried to get my mother to come pick me up before that but considering that my mother's a direction-idiot, she told me to take a taxi as she didnt know how to get there. Since it was after midnight, I had to pay the freaking 50% midnight surcharge. My heart was like palpipating damn fast because I was scared that I might not have enough money to pay the driver. Luckily there's something called credit card. :D

27 Dresses

Watched 27 Dresses with Eileen yesterday. The movie was quite interesting and funny. Worth the price that I paid for, considering that I watched it on a weekend. :D

Walked around Orchard after dinner. While in Wheelock Place, we came across this picture...This picture of my TS1101E lecturer Dr. KK Seet. Damn scary can! Seeing your lecturer's face on a non-school day.

We also went to Isetan to look at the freaking expensive strawberries and melons. Comtemplated buying those strawberries because Japanese strawberries are like so delicious but finally decided that it was just not worth it. I'm a damn poor student. Anyone wants to donate money to me? Instead, I bought my favourite...dango~!!! Seeing that there was only 2 packets left and being the kiasu Singaporean that I am, I quickly took one packet of the shelf and rushed to the payment counter. While digging through my wallet for money, I caught sight of the expiry date printed on the packet.

Eh? 04.01.08? Isnt that like 1st of January (following the day/month/year format)? Since it was the 2nd of February, the dango must either be damn bad or they printed 01(Jan) instead of 02(Feb). Just in case, I asked the cashier if there's any mistake on the expiry date label. She peered at the label, thought of it for a while and told me that it should be okay because they just displayed the dango out today. Still, they can just tell me that they printed the label wrongly...I mean, what's wrong with admitting their mistake? She then asked her colleague next to her and her colleague told her that the expiry date was 1st of April, based on the month/day/year format. I was stunned...since when in supermarkets did we use the month/day/year format?

Nosy parker customer A then intruded into our conversation and said that in Japan(because we were in the Japanese supermarket, Isetan), the month is written first. My foot la...in Japan, normally it's written in the year/month/day format. Even if they were correct, I dont think that you can store dango for like 2 months! In Japan, the dango that are sold in the supermarkets expires in like 2-3 days...not months. Anyway, I still think that I'm correct, in the sense that they typed the label wrongly. :D

Why am I writing this anyway?!!! -.-

Update on My Life

Havent been updating for a while because acer died on me and I had to send it for repair. So the Japan blog is still not done yet but below's a brief outline of what I've been doing the past few days.

SB3 Outing at Manhattan Fish Market

Had a SB3 outing at Manhattan Fish Market on the last Friday of June to celebrate Tommie's birthday. I think that MFM is almost similar to Fish & Co just that the latter's menu has more choices. Nonetheless, the food at MFM was great! The Seafood Platter for Two that I shared with Ray was really worth the money! There were 5 oysters, 4 prawns, 2 pieces of fish, lots of calamari and rice. (Ok, stop laughing at me for counting the amount of food.) Even the weird long bean salad was good. In fact, it actually tasted like french fries. -_-.

Kym, Me, Li Ming. The three of us havent met up for like ages~!

Tommie eager to eat his birthday cake?

Ray trying to feed Kym a piece of the Tiramisu cake but didnt manage to do so.

Although not everyone turned up for this outing, it was still a quite fun one nevertheless.

After dinner, we went to Novus at the National Museum(or wherever it was, cant remember) to have a drink. I had a very sweet lychee martini. Nicolle's guava martini tasted like...guava juice and Kym's drink tasted like Chinese medicine. Kar Fai's drink was even better. It looked like milo dinosaur. Haha.

NDP 2007 2nd Rehearsal

Went to the NDP 2007 Rehearsal with Tommie, Li Ming, her brother and his friend. NDP 2007 2nd Rehearsal was kind of sucky, sad to say. First of all, the weather that day was crazily warm and there was no wind at all! Secondly, not all performers were there so when they were supposed to appear, there were people holding up placards instead. For those who actually turned up, they were lip-synching. Thirdly, there were no fireworks that day at all! How disappointing. Throughout the rehearsal, there were many hiccups and it was obvious that more rehearsals were necessary. However, I really liked the part where they introduced the VIPs and they had random people holding up placards with 'VIP' written on it. The random person who stood in for PM Lee was really funny. He was waving to the audience as if he were the real PM Lee. The audience was responsive enough to wave back to him and took photos of him too.

The weird dragonboat race with one dragonboat racing against 2 motorboats and still managed to win in the end. -_-.

Some new formation that the army has. This pose garnered much laughter from the audience instead.

Ate at Thai Express after the rehearsal. Thanks to Ray for the treat!

Out with my host family
My host family from Japan came to Singapore so I brought them around last Friday. I had high-tea with my Okaasan at Goodwood Park Hotel before going to the Singapore Art Museum. The taxi driver who drove us to the SAM was a newbie and he himself was lost while driving us there. At the SAM, we saw NJC students and my Okaasan was shocked by the colour of their uniform, commenting that their uniform looked like working clothes. Hahaha, so it's not only Singaporeans who find the NJC uniform not-that-pleasant. On the other hand, she liked the ACJC uniform. :D

Went back to the hotel they were staying in to wait for Otousan to come back from golf. OMG, Shangri-la Hotel is like so freaking posh! 2 cans of coke cost like 8 freaking dollars. So rip-off! Considering that the company's going to pay for the bill, I drank a bottle of oh-so-delicious mango juice for $8. It was so damn good.

I brought them to Vila'ge for dinner where we had sambal stingray, crayfish, buttered scallops, salad, pasta, pizza and rosti. OMG, the amount of food was just scary. Thanks to Donna for helping me test the food before I brought them there. After dinner, we walked around Takashimaya where they had their first taste of bubble tea before taking the MRT to the airport. It was kind of sad that I only had one day with them in Singapore or else I could have had brought them to more places. :( Then again, it was a fun-filled day! And...I felt quite paiseh receiving so much omiyage from them again.

The youkan-like thingy.

Akkii Lucky Cookie. Such an interesting name for the cookie, and it rhymes too! There's like a sketch of Yon-sama on the back of the box because Akkii likes watching Korean dramas. Hahaha.

07/07/07 TC Outing

Li Ming wanted to see Daryl getting posessed by Jay Chou during karaoke so Kar Fai organised a TC outing that Li Ming didnt turn up for. -___-|| Anyway, we ate at Pastamania because I had a craving for Italian food before proceeding to Kbox.

So ya, Daryl got posessed by Jay Chou once again. I wonder if Andrew is in pain or what and what caused it. Haha.

Nicolle and me.

Andrew was waving his hands to the song when the waiter outside thought that he was signalling to him and came into the room. OMG, that was seriously funny!

11/07/07 Just Outing

Went to Mussels Guys at Vivo for lunch today. Had this Seafood Special Pasta in Cream Sauce...or whatever the name was. The pasta was seriously yummlicious but ya, I just realised that I suck at eating pasta. I managed to make the cream sauce spurt out from my plate and poor Sharon seated opposite me was my victim. Paiseh!

After lunch, Karen went off early so the rest of us went to Daiso because I wanted to buy my cheapo tea. I love the cheapo tea Daiso sells! In fact, I love Daiso la, there's just so much stuff there going for only $2! After Daiso, we went to the pet shop to look at pets. OMG, they were so freaking cute but the variety of pets Vivo has pales in comparison to the Malaysia one that I went at the start of this year.

Next up was window shopping for clothes. Went to Esprit, Zara, Topshop, Forever 21 but didnt get anything at all! Sharon, Weiqi and me actually planned to walk fast enough so that Leonard and Tony would get left behind but somehow they managed to find us...no matter which shop we went to. Their radar is like damn powerful can! After that, we went to Carls Jr to sit down and chit-chat where I managed to laugh till I cried. The Christian episode never fails to make me laugh. :D

Yup, so basically that's what I did for the past few days beside work, going for Korean classes and overworking my Mac.

Really Random Stuff

| | Comments (0) | TrackBacks (0)
Went out with Li Ming yesterday and got my birthday present from her! She bought me this really cool wooden handbag:D I really like the sequin thingy on it!

We ate at the Manna 'restaurant' located at Takashimaya food court. For a food court shop, they sell a freaking wide variety of Korean food! Plus, the Dolsot Bibimbap I ate was so delicious! The bibimbap you normally get at food courts has no burnt rice at the bottom of the pot but this one has! OMG, I totally love the burnt rice!

Bought this very cute DVD letter boxset from Kinokuniya. You have letter pad which is a DVD shape! Plus, there's also trading cards in them. Haha. Too cute not to buy :D

My laptop mouse suddenly jammed while I was surfing the net and this message popped out...

WTF? How to 'click here' when I cant even move the damn mouse?!

Finally got to watch 'Sekai no Chuushin de, Ai wo Sakebu', the movie version. OMG, the show was a serious tear-jerker. I basically cried throughout the show starting from when Aki passed out at Yumejima and ended up with a serious nose block after that....:( In addition to that, the guy who acted as Sakutaro(highschool days) was so cute! He got this really dazed look! I cant believe that he's 22 this year in real life and the girl who played Aki is actually younger than me!!! Changed the background picture :D

Anyway, I went for a haircut today and my hair is sooooo short now...and it's starting to curl back...fuck.

I'm going to marry a killer

Went out with Eileen today to Orchard. Wanted to eat at Han Ka Ram but it wasnt open for business! WTF...how can a restaurant be closed on a public holiday when the whole world is like eating out?! In the end, we ate at Sakae Sushi instead. Next, went to the Biotherm counter at Takashimaya to purchase something but it was like sold out and we had to go to Paragon instead. Man, the service of the Biotherm counter staff there seriously sucks. They didnt even bother attending to us when we walked in. Then when I was about to make payment, the woman told me to go to the cashier myself. However, when the ang moh guy wanted to pay, she walked him all the way to the cashier. WTF?! What kind of shit service is this?!

Next, went to Hereen's mise exclusive where I went Koichi-crazy...after a long period of being Rain-crazy and Hyesung-crazy. Bought Koichi's Apr 2006 to Mar 2007 calendar. OMG, it came with a Koichi photobook and a Koichi flyer. I wanted to buy the Koichi clear folder but it was like $18.90 for one! The normal cartoon clear folders sell at $1 for one...so yup, decided against it because it just wasnt sensible to buy such an expensive folder when I'm not even schooling now. Wait...maybe I'll buy it when I enter Uni this August :P By the way, I got into NUS's FASS...I cant believe they accepted me even though my grades pretty much sucked. Hee hee.

Following that, we went to Sol Mart and I bought the very yummy Gochujang and this plum powder tasting ice-cream. Man, I really like shopping at Korean and Japanese supermarkets...I feel so auntish all of a sudden...Anyway, we then went to the i21 shop and went crazy looking at Mac stuff before entering the cinema to watch...

DAISY!!!

OMG, this show is like freaking good and I totally loved it! Somemore there was Jeon Ji Hyun and oh-so-sexy Jung Woo Sung in it! Then again, it was really weird seeing the 2 of them in the movie because it reminded me of the Giordano ads they used to do together. Haha.

Jung Woo Sung seriously looks so sexy as a killer in this show...I'm so going to marry a killer next time...just kidding. I rather marry Jung Woo Sung himself. Then again, he's too old for me.

I really liked how the movie progressed but the ending kind of sucked for me...I cried when Jeon Ji Hyun died in the show...Man, I need to stop crying in cinemas...damn paiseh.

Going to sleep now so that I can wake up in time to meet Donna for breakfast tomorrow...I'm freaking hungry now because I forgot to eat dinner. Before that, let me end off with a picture of Jung Woo Sung again! Night!

P.S.: Anyone can send me the OST for Daisy?

Lunch at Harbourfront

| | Comments (0) | TrackBacks (0)
Boarded 947 yesterday and tapped my wallet against the EZlink card reader. Nothing happened. Tapped again. Still nothing. Then I realised...my mum took my card to help me top up the value but forgot to return it to me. Shit, got to pay by coins but I had no coins left. Asked the very first uncle seated in front but he told me he paid by card so he had no coins. WTF? Doesnt make sense lo. He then pointed over to the auntie who was scratching her feet with her hands and asked me to request from her. The auntie saw him pointing at her and started to open up her wallet to search for coins...but she didnt have too...LUCKILY! Cant imagine if she had coins, I might not even want to take them from her.

When I reached the MRT station, I realised that I was going to Harbourfront and the fare there was freaking expensive. Somemore got that $1 shit and I didnt have coins! Anyway, reached Harbourfront and met up with Kym, Wee Yang and Ray to makan. It's was Ray's last lunch before he goes to the army and we wanted to dupe him into paying for our lunch. Too bad it didnt happen :( Man, I seriously miss those days where we get to see Ray and Kym bicker like every other day in school. Haha, great entertainment! After lunch, Kym and Wee Yang had to go back to work...I cant believe that I actually went all the way to Harbourfront just to have lunch when I stay at Bukit Gombak!

Waited at the bus stop for 188 to arrive with Ray. Sat there for like 15-20 mins but there was no 188 in sight. Another 5-10mins passed before Ray realised that 188 does not stop there! Had to walk to the bus interchange to wait for 188 all over again as it had just left...blur Ray...

Went for tuition at night and surprisingly, the boy was so attentive for the first half of the lesson. I knew it was too good to be true though. He started getting restless and took a 7min break instead of the 2min I allowed him and he like rolled all over his mattress when he returned from his break...plus he wrote crap answers for the work I told him to do...grrrr...I think he's so going to fail his mid-terms.

Thursday and Good Friday

| | Comments (0) | TrackBacks (0)
Went to Orchard with Donna on Thursday and I was late for like almost half an hour...sorry! We ate at this Omu Rice place at Takashimaya and it was like damn worth for money. The amount of food they gave me made me feel full for almost the whole day! Next, we went shopping at the Hello Kitty store and I bought a mechanical pencil and pen for like $16 each! I didnt even realise that it was that expensive till I paid the money...Shit...must open my eyes wider next time. Then again, at least the stationeries were cute :D Next stop was Kinokuniya and then Hereen. Donna bought a pair of shoes at Hereen but we had to collect them from Far East because they were out of stock so we like walked all the way there. My heels almost killed me! The worst thing was that I felt like purchasing Korean food so we actually walked back to Cineleisure from Far East! WTF...we are like freaking crazy!

We took a bus back and luckily my tutee's mum cancelled his tuition because we were stuck in a jam and took more than an hour to reach CCK. It was so cold in the bus that the guy one row in front of us actually used tissue paper to stuff the air-con vent. Talk about desperate. Then again, he wasnt the worse. Donna and I were like talking in the bus and this stupid guy seated next to Donna kept listening to our conversation! I know our conversation was damn interesting and somewhat kee siao but he didnt have to blatantly show that he was evaesdropping...By the time we got off the bus, I felt like a frozen chicken and I couldnt even move my legs properly. Haha. On Friday, I went out with Li Ming to Orchard again. Watched this Korean movie called 'The Art of Seduction'. Initially I thought that this was some M18 movie from the title but turned out that this was actually a 100% comedy. The show was like freaking good and the leads were good-looking! Especially the male lead, Song Il Guk! Then again, I just found out that he's like 35 years old this year. Why are all those good-looking people so 'matured'?! Take for example Brad Pitt, Kwon Sang Woo and blah blah blah.

It was raining, or rather, pouring, when we had to walk from Takashimaya to Cineleisure so we had no choice but to buy umbrellas. Actually, there was actually a small queue for umbrellas at Taka...haha. I wanted to sell my umbrella to anyone who needed it at Cine since they dont sell umbrellas there but decided against it in case it was still raining after the movie...which it wasnt of course...so wasted! I spent like freaking lots of money on Friday man...I bought this Japanese novel by Akagawa Jiro from Kino. When I say Japanese, it means that the whole book's in Japanese and not translated into Chinese. Shit...how am I going to push myself to actually finish reading the book? I need a dictionary man!
