I'm sick. Got woken up at around 5+ in the morning by this nauseous feeling. Tried to ignore the feeling by forcing myself to sleep but it did not work so I had to go to the toilet to try and vomit. Vomitting sucks when there's no food in your stomach because all you'll be vomitting is acid...or whatever that is that has a really acidic taste. Oh and, vomitting into the toilet bowl sucks too because you have to put your head really close to the toilet bowl to prevent anything that you vomit out from splashing back into your face.

While vomitting, I realised that I had a stomachache as well and needed to shit so I quickly stopped vomitting so as to use the toilet bowl for shitting. However, while shitting, I felt like vomitting again so I had to stop shitting, flush the toilet bowl and start vomitting again. I repeated that quite a few times and it was seriously not fun at all. When I told my mum about this later in the day, she asked me why didnt I just sit on the toilet bowl and hold a plastic bag in my hands for me to vomit into. Upon hearing that, I went 'Ya hor, I shall do that the next time,' before realising that I do not want to experience this feeling again.

My mum forced me to see the doctor in the late afternoon and there were like seriously lots of patients there. Felt a little dizzy and cold because the fan was blowing right into my face and I couldnt switch seats because that was the only seat available. Picked up this magazine called 'Singapore Tattler' and started reading. 'Singapore Tattler' is one of the best magazines to make poor people like me feel jealous that I dont have the ability to lead the lives of the rich and mighty. What's the use of this magazine anyway?! ...besides showing tons of photographs of socialites whom I dont even recognise anyway?

After 40 minutes of waiting, I finally got to see the doctor and got some medicine...but I still dont know what's wrong with me. Great~! -_- Wasted 40 minutes of my life, paid for medicine that I can easily get at home and the doctor didnt tell me what caused me to be sick. I had to like volunteer to tell him that I had seafood two days before but he just brushed it aside. Dont doctors usually ask their patients what they ate when they vomit/feel nauseous?!

Dont ask me why but I've been watching Malaysian Dreamgirl recently. The sound quality is really bad because even when I turn my speakers up to the full volume, I still cant hear clearly what the people are talking about in the video. Wait a minute, it's probably not the fault of the video, it's probably due to the fact that I've not digged the 'gold' out of my ears for a million years. Yes, that must be the explanation!

Video editing is kind of bad too because some episodes start and end abruptly. For instance, in episode 6, it started off suddenly with the contestants giving their comments on the elimination...when...the elimination took place in episode 5. Couldn't they just try to squeeze that part into episode 5? They could've done so if they had cut away some really boring and why-the-fuck-is-this-here footage. Also, episode 6 was awfully short and it seems to me that they forgot to edit the video so they just anyhow cut-and-pasted a few scenes together and ta-da~episode 6. Furthermore, episode 6 part 3 was uploaded on a different day from the first two parts. Do I sense some serious slacking on the part of the producers?

In addition to episode 6, what was the significance of the flying fox part? And where are the photos from that photoshoot? If it wasnt a photoshoot then seriously, what a waste of time(viewer's) and effort (the photographer's). If it was a photoshoot...then upload those pictures already damn it!

Episode 7 was a refreshing change from episode 6 because it was filled with bitching and more bitching. I hate to admit this but I just loved episode 7 because of all the bitching, although I didnt understand Hanis at all. Not her fault though, it was my fault because I cant understand Malay at all. The producers should've had inserted all these serious bitching from day one to spice up the show. I'm sure that the girls didnt just start to bitch only now. They must have had bitched more during Ringo's return. Bitching and back-stabbing are the elements that make an online reality tv show, or any tv show actually, interesting to watch. I mean, why would anyone want to sit through a show that features only goody two shoes? How boring!

After watching the latest episode and then comparing it with the first few, it made me wonder...whether those girls who were squealing irritatingly like 2-year-old kids whenever they get freebies...are the same girls who were doing some serious bitching in the latest episode. If they're the same, then I must really say that these girls are.................really women! Come on, women bitch all day long. Like it or not, we're made this way. :D

Onto the contestants, I cant decide whether I like Adeline or not. During the audition, I felt bad for her when the judges were making fun of her pronunciation of 'sushi', which she pronounced it as 'susi'. Like wtf, you dont go around making fun of people's pronunciation and somemore, this is a reality tv show that searches for models(obviously not dreamgirls now) and not anchorwomen ok! Models need to look pretty and since when was language ability an important factor in modelling?

Cindy was really pretty...until her locks got chopped off. If cutting your long tresses=making a big sacrifice, like what Ringo said in her profile video, I think that you all should vote for Cindy too~ Oh wait, but she's like really fake, speaks bad Mandarin and calls people names like 'yin du po' and 'ma lai po' when she obviously knows their names. Oh, but I really like the way she complains over the phone. Really bitchy and she sounded as if she really wanted to dig her claws into the other contestants but couldnt do so because...well, the cameras are there you know.

Eyna. I dont know. She is like expressionless for like 100% of the time.

Fiqa. One of the few whom I thought was cute initially when I saw the profiles videos. I like it how she says that she doesnt want to nag about Cindy but still goes on to divulge more juicy stuff about Cindy. Still like her though.

Hanis. She can look sweet at times and not very pleasant-looking at times. Cant talk much about her because 99% of the time, I dont understand what she's talking about.

Jay. Looks really model-ish and her English is arguably the best among all the contestants now.

Nadia. Scares me alot, especially her eyes and when she doesnt smile.

Ringo. Was the only familiar face when I first started watching because I've been reading her blog for quite some time. When I heard her voice for the first time on the profile video, I was like 'Fake-accent alert" and I really didnt like the way she spoke. From other episodes, forgot which one, she spoke kind of differently from the profile video and it sounded so much nicer without the fake accent. Her blog is starting to irritate me because every single post now is about how we should all vote for 'cheesie-sama', why she's awesome and all those shit. Seriously, damn hard-sell and gets revolting after some time. Oh, and I shivered when I read what Mr.bbq had to say in the post 'Thank you everyone'. I quote him directly here: I positively teared okay. WTF?! That's disgusting can! So yup, everyone please vote for Ringo to let her win so as to stop all the hard-sell posts and let the entries there return to normal, when it was actually good to read. She's going to win anyway right? I mean, if the producers dont keep her on the show long enough, they will lose all the money they'll get from her big bunch of loyal blog readers' votes.

Yup, I just wasted part of my life blogging about this.

Went to IMM for lunch and to look at car GPS. Below's what happened at the shop selling car GPS.

Salesman (S): Which one would you like to get? (There were 2 kinds, one bigger than the other and of course, the prices were different too.)
Father (F): Erm, I think the bigger one.
Me (M): Why? Bigger one more expensive lo.
F: Expensive but the screen is also larger and easier to see.
M: Ya hor, anyway your wife also quite blur one, I'm sure she cant see if you buy the smaller one.
S: (pointing to me) Eh? I thought that this was your daughter...
F: (joking) No, she's my girlfriend.
S: Oh I see, I'm so sorry. I really thought that she was your daughter.
F, M: ......

My god! The salesman really thought that I'm my father's girlfriend?!!!! How...how...guilible. -_-

If you dont already know, I bought a Japanese phone last year via a forum. Although it's a really old model but still, it's a Japanese phone and I can input Japanese...so it's really cool. Anyway, to protect my new loved one, I went to stick this Hello Kitty screen protector onto it straight after I bought it. Looks really cute, doesnt it, the screen protector.

The problem was that after pasting the seemingly semi-transparent screen protector onto it, I realised that I had difficulties looking at the screen. Lots of people think it's stupid of me to paste something on phone that obstructs my vision but I didnt remove it because...the screen protector was damn expensive okay~!

So anyway, my screen protector started to peel at the edges and it was getting a little eeky so I peeled it off...only to realise that...my screen's is actually damn freaking clear! I never knew it~Whee~

I am a genius.

Went down to the post office today to collect a few parcels and really regreted doing so.
Reason no. 1: Apparently, the Saturday after a public holiday is called the peak period so there were lots of people there.
Reason no. 2: People near the front of the queue were either rooted to the ground or had undergone rigor mortis or something...They all just refused to move up front even though there was lots of space in front of them. In the end, people at the back(me) had to stay put in the increasingly squeezy queue. :(

Enough of the post office and let me blog about Donna's 21st dinner that took place on Good Friday.

Ate at this place called Trattoria Lafiandra which is located in the Singapore Art Museum. Dont ask me how to pronounce the name because I dont know how to anyway.

The restaurant was really pretty and there was a couple holding their small engagement party there~...or at least I thought that it was an engagement party. If it was not, then they were seriously overdressed. The head waiter there was really humourous and friendly~

First, we had antipasti, which basically means starters. This dish was some eggplant cooked with tons of cheese. It was really cheesy and tasty~

Parma ham with rock melon with that green thing on top of it. The saltiness of the ham, mixed with the sweetness of the rock melon, was just too delicious for words. Yummilicious~

Not sure what this is called in Italian but basically, it's italian seafood tempura. Although it's fried but it did not have the icky oily taste and instead, it tasted really light and fluffy. Fuwafuwa~Okay, I dont know how tempura can taste like fluffy but it just felt like that to me. I obviously cant be a food critic. :D

Vongoles. I rabu seafood.

This is how much I rabu seafood. After eating 2 out of 4 starters that contained seafood, I still went to order Spaghetti Al Frutti Di Mare, which is like spaghetti with seafood and tomato sauce. It was so delicious to the extent that I finished everything~(of course I didnt eat the shells lar!) I normally dont have the habit of finishing my food but I did this time round so yup...this dish was good.

Donna ordered ravioli and I kept reading the menu as rivoli, as in Rue de Rivoli. This is what happens when one studies too much French.

Initially, Donna thought that there would be no cake but her sister surprised her with this Tiramisu cake which was delicious...and fattening I must add. Hee~

After the extremely fulfiling dinner, everyone started to take photos outside the arts museum. Somehow, this artpiece scares me alot. Probably because her eyes look like my goldfish's eyes...when it died.

If you are able to spot me in the photo, you'll notice that I look like as if my head's placed on the guillotine or something. I had like difficulties trying to place my head above the 'SAM' blocks okay! It's not exactly my fault that I'm short though. Blame my parents. :P

Dam.cool.picture. Attracted lots of weird stares from passers-by though.

Walked over to the Esplanade from the arts museum and it did NOT take 20 minutes, like what Donna's friend said. It took more than that...but it aided in digestion though. Passed by Chijmes and I really wanted to enter the maid cafe to take a look.

Had a drink at Harry's. Darshini ordered Snowball and Donna ordered Pina Colada because Timothy recommended them but...the taste was...erm...let's just say that it wasnt what they expected.

I ordered Cosmopolitan and it was damn sweet, but nice.

Imjad ordered Virgin Mary which tasted like a bad concoctation of tomato juice and celery...which actually is how Virgin Mary is made though. I wonder why it's so popular when it's like so yucky? Anyway, this drink sparked off a weird conversation about Virgin Mary and virgin.

When I went home and watched an old episode of SMAPxSMAP, there was this part where Nakai-san mixed celery sherbet and tomato together for Eguchi Yosuke. So coincidental~

Imjad requested for the singer at Harry's to sing a song for Donna and he was like a really good singer~! After hearing the song, all of us dashed off to board the last train and luckily, we managed to do so. I've never taken the last train before!!! It's either I take the train before it or I miss it. Haha, so fun~ Anyway, had a really great time and thanks to Donna for inviting me :D

20/03/08 - Korean school cultural festival: ddeok cutting

Yesterday was the day where we received our Korean test results. While waiting for the class to start, I starting doodling on the whiteboard. I seriously think that I'm artistic. :D

We spent the first hour of the lesson going through the test paper, learning how to make my favourite ddeokppokki and learning how to play Go-Stop. The cultural festival was held in the second hour of the lesson where we learnt how to cut ddeok (Korean rice cake).

Before cutting the ddeok, we were treated to ddeokguk, Korean rice cake soup that the Koreans usually eat on New Year's Day.

We also had the representative of Korean food, kimchi! This was like the best kimchi I ever had. Aileen said that it was not spicy enough and a tad too sweet but for people who cant take spicy food like me, this was good enough. I basically finished the whole plate, right down to the last piece of cabbage. I had no idea that we could go for second helpings or else...hee~

Felie gave our A1 teacher, Jang seonsaengnim, a photo frame with DBSK's Mickey's photo in it. As far as I know, our teacher is not planning to replace that photo at all. :D

We basically let Hak Pang do the cutting of the ddeok~while we just sat there and watched/took photos.

My A1 class, sans Wendy who had to leave early. A1 was really difficult but our teacher was really nice and dedicated in her teaching.

Min seonsaengnim, Me. She was my teacher for E2 and she has this aura around her that makes you afraid of her in class for every single lesson. Outside class, however, she's really nice and fun.

Yoon seonsaengnim, Me. My teacher for I2 and I think that she's really pretty in real life.

Went to eat durians at Geylang after the cultural festival. Seonsaengnim's second time eating durians and she really liked it. I fail lar, even a Korean likes to eat durian and me, a Singaporean, hates durian. What is wrong with me?!

Tried our hands at Go-Stop. Damn difficult game but I guess with more practice, we might be able to get the hang of it. Hmm...this means that we should organise more outings to play Go-Stop! Sekali later get caught by the police.

Anyway, yesterday was my first time visiting Geylang and it seriously didnt feel like Singapore to me with all the flashing neon lights, big-ass condom shop signboard, roadside stalls and a police raid on those people selling contraband cigarettes. Really big open eyes world (Da Kai Yan Jie/eyeopener)!

Were assigned to the Loans Department today. As there was some time left before work started, we were taught by Ms Nakamoto the methods of counting money. It was really interesting but difficult at the same time. What I liked most was that they have only-for-pratice-usage money. :D

Learned about many different types of loans at the Loans Department.

Lunch was tonkatsu with rice. I really love the set meals at the Shinkin Bank's staff canteen. Look at the amount of food!!! The best thing was that it only cost me 400 yen. Quality+Quantity+Cheap.

Returned to the Loans Department after lunch. Was actually a little sleepy though because we did not need to move much today. Just needed to sit down and listen to what the in-charge had to say.

Seriously tiring day.
Dinner was at Handaya again but I ate something different this time. Pork kimchi and gyoza. I've never eaten pork kimchi before in Singapore and it was really really delicious. :D

Next part of the Hiroshima Internship Programme~

2nd day of internship. Same as the day before, we were assigned to the HR department and our in-charges were Mr Nakamura and Ms Nakamoto. They treated us to Hiroshima's speciality, Okonomiyaki, for lunch. I seriously love okonomiyaki, especially the Hiroshima version. Then again, I've only eaten the try-to-imitate-Japan-but-fail-Singapore version so it's not really difficult to choose which version I like.

Ms Nakamoto, Me, Pei San, Mr Nakamura.

As the okonomiyaki was really too big for us to finish eating it (although both our in-charges managed to do so), we started to play with the thing that you are supposed to eat the okonomiyaki with. Whee~

Returned to the company's carpark after lunch and I was seriously amazed by how high-tech the carpark was. You just need to drive the car into the place as shown above and it will automatically get parked. To retrieve the car, simply key in the password or something and out it comes. So.freaking.cool.

Went to this place called Ougon San, which basically means...Golden Mountain(Huang Jin Shan)?

As Pei San's afraid of heights, she was like grabbing my hand the whole time we were up there. I, on the other hand, am afraid of walking down slopes so I was like the slowest one to descend the mountain.

Plus size cat. Look at it's hair/fur! So fluffy~ All the animals/pets that I saw in Japan had like damn pretty hair/fur, like as if they apply serum to them and get combed a million times per day.

Signboards in Japan are cute and sometimes funny, especially the English ones. Didnt take a photo of that though.

Pei San wanted to go to Fudoin so we got brought there.

Our in-charges were initally shocked when Pei San told them she wanted to go there because apparently, not many foreigners know about this place.

I really like how temples are really quiet and serene. :D

I've not been to Hiroshima Castle yet and really wanted to visit that place but because parking was a problem, we headed to the next destination instead.

So in the end, we went to Shukkeien.

Not many people were there that day(Of course la! It was still within working hours).

Shukkeien is a man-made garden.

I dont know how and why I went to climb onto this bridge. Although not really visible from this angle, the steps of the bridge were freaking smooth and tilted. Going up was a little difficult already...somemore had to come down. Since I'm afraid of slopes, I did the very unglam thing of removing my shoes and basically slid down the steps. If you see closely, those are my shoes at the foot of the bridge. I rock.

Dinner was at this family restaurant called Handaya. Basically, they display the different kinds of food on the shelves and in the fridge and you can pick whatever you want to eat. Like...mix-and-match? After selecting, you just need to proceed the cashier, pay up and enjoy your meal. Damn cool and not to mention...CHEAP. Really good for poor people like me.

Hiroshima Internship Programme 28/5/07

Internship finally started today~!

We have to walk like 45mins(15mins for Japanese people) to the train station every day, take a train, get off and walk for like another 10mins(probably 3mins for Japanese people) to the company. As we were damn afraid that we would be late, we used to leave the training centre early in the morning. In fact, we were like always the earliest to leave and we'll reach the company like 30mins earlier. We will then kill time in the waiting room on the 5th floor.

Lunch on the first day of work! For 400 yen, you get like pork katsu curry, tea and 2 side dishes. Oh wait, there's fruit too! So worth it can! The food's really tasty too.

Spent the first half of the day learning about the history of the Shinkin Bank from Mr Nakamura. Went to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial after lunch with Mr Nakamura and Ms Nakamoto. That was like my 2nd time visiting the Peace Memorial.

This was where the bomb dropped on.

Went to a cafe in Hondoori to kill time after that because there was still lots of time left before the welcome party in the evening. Mr Nakamura and Ms Nakamoto returned to the company to prepare for the party whereas Pei San and I walked around Hondoori.

The welcome party was held at Rihga Royal Hotel.

2nd day of homestay. On the way to youme town, we dropped by Hiroshima University, the university where Airi's studying in. Coincidentally, Okaasan's also from there too!

Rubbish bins in the school. Throwing rubbish away in Japan is helluva troublesome because you have to throw rubbish away according to how they are categorised. Then again, it's good for the environment.

The campus was really spick-and-span and the buildings looked really clean on the outside...unlike the university that I study in now.

Proceeded to youme town after the short visit where we met up with Melody and her host family, Ms Oogata. As we were a little too early, we went shopping and bought the same top :D I also bought a yukata that I havent got a chance to wear yet.

After Melody and Ms Oogata arrived, we went to eat ice-cream. There were like so many different flavours to choose from la! Thanks to Ms Oogata for the treat!

After choosing for like ages, I finally decided on grape. Yummilicious~!

Saturday was homestay day. As Melody's and my host family were busy in the day, their common friend, Ms Watanabe, took care of us for the day. We had to travel like 45 minutes by car to East Hiroshima.

Played with Ms Watanabe's 3 children, Shouta, Sakura and Momo, at her house. Sakura tied my hair for me :D

Had my first taste of lady's finger. I used to think that lady's finger's spicy because of it's shape. Looks like green chili to me. However, it wasnt spicy at all but kind of sticky~

Shouta managed to catch 2 frogs in the end. Sakura wanted 1 frog from him but Shouta was unwilling to share them with her so she...started crying. While her mum was trying to make her stop crying, Momo, on the hand, ate jelly as if nothing was happening around her. :D

Had a party held by the HIPPO club at night. It was Shouta's birthday as well that day.

Split up and went to our respective companies.

Hui En, Me, Peisan. On our way to work. The only day where we got to take a car to work. Had to walk like mad and utilise the train for the rest of the days.

We just had to go around the company to do greetings today so we ended relatively early. In fact, we ended work before lunch :D Ate at Yokocho Ramen which was located a short distance away from the company.

Hmmn, what to eat?

The chef of the shop we went into was from Shanghai, China. We knew that because he was eagerly showing us photos of his hometown when he realised that we could speak Chinese.

While waiting for the ramen to get cooked, we camwhored in the shop. Whee~

Walked around after lunch and Pei San discovered her favourite Mr Donut...so we went to buy donuts~The donuts there are seriously pretty and presentable, unlike Singapore's neighbourhood donuts shop. I really cant stand the donuts sold in Singapore. First of all, the size of the donut's damn small and the donuts never fail to look like as if they were done in a hurry or something. Slapping a teeny-weeny M&M on top of a plain donut does not make it a M&M donut okay!!!

Went to take neoprints. Neoprints in Japan are like dirt cheap and the machine's functions are like really good. No wonder I took so many neoprints in the 3 weeks there. Like...6 times?

Went to Hiroshima Shudo University today.

Before setting off, we had a short internship briefing by Mr Saeki in the cateen of the training centre. Following that, we set off for the university in a taxi~!

Had a really warm welcome by the students there.

We got split into smaller groups and had lunch with the students there. Look at the amount of food in the Maku-no-uchi bento.

Was brought to the library after lunch. My god! Their library is big, pretty and modern...Unlike NUS' lao kok one.

They have like plasma TVs in the library where students can watch movies there. This is so unfair!

Hiroshima Internship

Took the JR from Kansai Airport to Osaka station to take a highway bus to Hiroshima.

The 8 of us with all our luggages basically clogged up one carriage of the JR and resulted in many people being unable to get onto the train during rush hour. So sorry!!!

In the bus. Everyone was really excited at the start and were taking photos like there's no tomorrow but in a twinkling of an eye, everyone was in la la land.

Finally reached the Hiroshima Shinkin Bank training center. This was my room for the whole internship period. One person to two beds~ So shuang~ In the end, one bed became the place where I dumped everything on(clothes, plastic bags, receipts, bottles...) and the room was seriously cluttered up by the end of the internship.

Had a briefing in the training centre.

Was made to do a self-introduction in front of the new employees of the Shinkin Bank who were there for training as well.

Had dinner at this family resturant called Gust.

Havent got the time to blog about my Taiwan trip so I've decided to blog about the internship programme that took place in Hiroshima...in May 2007. Yet another backdated entry~

Went with 8 other girls from school to Hiroshima in May for the internship programme.

Took a plane from Singapore, transited in Thailand before taking another plane to Osaka. The transit in Thailand was 5 whole freaking hours and we almost died walking around in the humongous Thailand airport. Since we spent so much time there, I think that I should dedicate one post solely on the aiport :D

21/12/07: Day 3 - Lingzhi Place/Da Lu Shan/Beach/Hot Spring Hotel

Day 3

-First stop of the day was the lingzhi shop.

-Listened to a talk on Taiwan's lingzhi and deer fetus which is supposedly good for people with asthma. (eew! wtf?!)
-My sister bought so much stuff that I almost thought that she's going to open a lingzhi shop in Singapore or something. (kidding)
-Wanted to take a photo with the shifu there and somehow the salesladies there thought that I said that the shifu was handsome. -_-
-The shifu then asked me if I 'shui xing le ma' (Fully-awake or not) =D

-Next stop was this place called Da Lu Shan. Damn pretty and the water was crystal blue!

-Ok, doesnt look that pretty in the picture. Cant comment on the photography skills because I wasnt the one who took them.
-Got on the bus and they drove for a relatively short while before reaching the next place. Not sure if it's still Da Lu Shan though...the colour of the water looks the same to me.
-(Note to self) Stop sleeping immediately upon getting onto the bus and listen to the tour guide more!

-Was brought to the beach next but as I have an immense dislike for beaches and sand, I chose to wait...near the toilet... for the rest of the people while they frolicked on the beach.
-My sister was one of those people and she came back with sandy feet.
-Luckily she was wearing my father's Ronald MacDonald shoes. (Crocs)

-I dont see the attractiveness of beaches at all. I'm so totally unromantic :(

-Somewhere in between those places that we went to, we had lunch. Not really tasty I must say but the quantity made up for the quality.
-All of us were divided into groups of 10 for lunch.
-My group was the one that bonded really well I think. In fact, all of us talked so much that we were always the last one to leave the restaurant although we were the first ones to enter.

-Was brought to this seriously lousy hot spring hotel that smelt really bad.
-There were too many tourists from ******* that made me give up the idea of entering the hot spring.
-Aircon was seriously noisy because it kept leaking. How freaking old is the aircon?!

-Wanted to go shopping around that area in the night but there was nothing to see at all.
-While waiting outside 7-11, I saw lots of dead flies. WTF. There were seriously enough flies to make up a parliament.

-Tried mao xie(hairy crabs?) at this little restaurant that was quite a distance away from the hotel.
-Hate eating crabs because it's so troublesome. Have to crack open the shell, eat the meat and get your hands dirty.
-Reason why we chose to eat at this particular shop among all the others that were selling the same thing was because of this uncle who was singing and dancing at the same time. Damn cool!

-It was at that shop that I sang in front of a whole restaurant for the first time in my life! Damn scary.
-On the way back to the hotel, we saw this:

-Is he shitting or is he showing his...erm...yea, you get the idea?
-Reached the hotel at like 11.30pm so didnt enter the hot spring in the end.

Yup, end of Day 3.

NUS is slower than a tortoise

Received a NUS email informing us about this programme: Korea University International Summer Campus (ISC) 2008 Programme. After hearing rave reviews about this programme from Eileen who went last year, I decided that I wanted to participate too. However, I had a few queries regarding my eligibility of application via NUS because this is counted as SEP(Student Exchange Programme) but I'm slated to participate in another SEP programme later this year. The reason being that one student is only allowed to go on SEP once. At the end of the email, we were told to contact IRO(some NUS organisation) for more information and that the deadline for application was 10th March 2008.

So...I did. I emailed IRO on the 28th of February 2008 and waited for their reply. I seriously do not know what's wrong with NUS but NUS is so freaking slow and the staff are so non-responsive. They replied me on 12th March 2008. WTF! Applications closed le lo! The best thing is that the email told me to ask my faculty's SEP Coordinator...Like that must take so long to reply meh?! Damn fucking helpful I must say.

This episode adds to the long list of reasons of why I want to graduate from NUS ASAP and that NUS has freaking low efficiency. I should've gone to NTU or SMU instead...seriously.

How can NUS get such a high ranking as a world-class university when their efficiency is worse than people on strike?! Oh wait, whether the university is efficient or not does not contribute to that ranking. If it's included, NUS can jolly well fall off the ranking.

(Edit) I emailed IRO back to 'thank' them for the reply. Had the urge to write 'Thank you for the PROMPT reply' but decided against it because it sounded a little rude.

Day 2

-Ate breakfast and went down to the hotel lobby.
-Was told that we couldnt go up the bus.
-Imagine my horror when I realised that 99% of the tour group was already on the bus when we were finally allowed onto the bus.
-The horror got worse when I realised that my seat was just right in front of two little kids.

-The horror worsened when I almost fell through the emergency exit. Who builds emergency exits that are so dangerous anyway?!

-Went to Yehliu, the place with pretty impressive rock formations like this one, the map of Taiwan.

-And this, Nv Wang Tou.

-I have a love-hate relationship with bridges. Bridges are nice because they are damn romantic and nice to look at but I hate them because once I ascend a bridge, I can take an eternity to get down. I was practically sliding down the bridge I climbed up in Japan. In a skirt somemore!

-The sexy peek-a-boo toilet. One can practically see through the door lo! Although it's a guys toilet but still, wtf?! The toilet at one petrol station was even worse. The guys toilet had no door at all! As in for the urinals portion. I was originally very sleepy when I walked to the toilet and was immediately shocked awake by the toilet.

-Ate this fried seaweed snack there. Salty but good. I love anything seaweed.

-Saw Ayase Haruka at Yehliu!!!! Okay, not exactly her in real person but rather her poster. Tried to find Hiraoka Yuta's poster but to no avail. :(

-Next stop was Chiufen which I didnt like very much.
-Too many tourists, too narrow roads and too many large vehicles on the road. I really hate the traffic in Taiwan.

-Everyone had to run into a shop when this vehicle passed by because it was just impossible for someone to walk on the street without getting killed with this vehicle on the street.

-Ate fishball, meatball, sharkball, and whatever balls they had in this shop which was opened by a seriously narcissistic lady. I mean, who practically plasters her shop's walls with her own pictures?! I've finally found someone who is more narcissistic than Tony Khoo. Hahaha.

-Loving this woman's outfit.

-Next stop was Nantien Gong.

-Had to take a 3-hour long bus ride to Hualien.
-What is a 3-hour long bus ride compared to the 4-hour long bumpy bus ride I took before in China?
-It was worse because of the fact that half the bus ride was on a winding road.
-Seriously felt like puking in the middle of the bus ride.
-Contemplated getting some medicated oil from my sister but she was asleep.
-Felt that someone up there likes me very much when the lady(Denise) in front of me used her medicated oil. So, although I wasnt directly using it, the smell alone was enough.

-Had a great dinner at the hotel. In fact, it was the best hotel I've stayed in during this whole trip...and it had nothing to do with the cute bellboys/waiters in the hotel.
-Ate spaghetti, salmon and mango ice-cream. My favourite food~
-Traumatised the sushi guy because I chose like 2 out of the 6 ingredients I think he was supposed to wrap in the temaki sushi.
-The sushi guy traumatised me even more when he handed me my temaki sushi...without rice.

-Wen dao-yu told us that there will be a 7-Eleven near every hotel that we will be staying in.
-Felt damn cheated by him because 7-Eleven was like miles away from the hotel that we stayed in.
-Didnt help that a dog tried to follow us back to the hotel.
-Traumatised the dog by screaming because it appeared all of a sudden in front of me. Paiseh, who asked you to traumatise me first.

-H Alien City. Sounds damn wrong can...in Japanese.

-Caught the hotel people laughing when I was taking this photo. What?! Cannot box reindeers arh?!

-Have a habit of leaving the electricity on when I leave the hotel room so we originally used this book to hold the key in place because it kept popping out of place. Our always helpful tour guide, Victor, had a more indigenous idea of using the toothbrush in place of the key. Eh...what am I going to use to brush my teeth?

Walked around the hotel and I saw men wrapped around in bathrobes coming out of the spa place. Normally men in bathrobes are sexy...if they look like Domoto Koichi...but it's just wrong when their bathrobes are not tied tightly enough.

So yup, end of day 2.

OMG. I caught the school cleaner in the midst of changing her clothes when I entered the toilet. Somemore she was like totally not fully-clothed. Luckily it was just back-view. Anyway, the two cubicles in that toilet were unoccupied and she just had to change her clothes OUTSIDE those cubicles...Why?! My eyes are seriously damaged now. I need to look at more ikemen to save them. :D

KY is getting more and more irritating by the day. Why does it have to be so fucking rude to SS and make everyone so angry at it? I mean, come on, KY's old enough to know that one should never throw one's temper in public, no matter what. Somemore, I dont know what it's angry about. Everything is it's fault, it has totally no right to be angry at anyone. If there's really someone who has the right to be angry, it should be SS. However, SS is too nice to scold her and has to suffer KY's wrath every single time.

(Note: 1. KY is not my father although my father's initials are KY. 2. I refered to KY as it because I dont want to point out it's gender, although I feel that KY should not be human in the first place.)

Damn tired now but still havent completed my homework. Boo.

19/12/07: Day 1 - Arrival / Raohe Street Night Market

Damn outdated but going to post bit by bit about my Taiwan trip...last year :D

-Was supposed to reach Changi Airport at 1.15pm but was late because the taxi driver was so slow. Ok, not exactly the taxi driver's fault. Dily-dallied too long at home was the real reason.
-Short briefing by Victor, the Singapore tour guide.
-Laughed because the first hotel that we would be staying in had a really mafia-ish sounding name 'Taiwan Brothers'. Result of watching too much 'Yi Nan Wang'.
-Proceeded to check-in.
-The guy who led us to the check-in counter was fierce and I was damn scared of him. He reminded me of my strict Korean teacher.
-Luckily he wasnt our tour guide.
-Proceeded to enter the gate. The guy checking passports at the gate was so freaking cute.
-Sister was chased out of the gate for eating ice-cream. Apparently ice-cream is considered a liquid because it can melt and it might contain dangerous liquids. Seriously, would anybody be eating it if it really contained dangerous liquids.
-Waited for sister on the other side of the gate and had to listen to the lady who chased her out rant about people eating ice-creams.
-The same lady kept calling 'Mei mei, mei mei' for no reason at all.
-Realised she was calling me to siam to one side when she patted me on my shoulder.
-Flight was delayed so we had to wait among noisy kids.
-Saw this Singaporean guy who looked very Korean. Saw him a few more times on the tour although he wasnt in my tour group.
-Was sceptical about China Airlines because of the not-so-nice rumours I've heard about them.
-Pleasantly surprised by the service and the spacious seats in the plane.
-It helped that the air stewardesses were damn pretty.
-Sucked that I didnt see any cute air steward.

-Reached Taipei at 8pm.
-First thought was 'Shit, why is it so fucking cold? I didnt bring enough warm clothes.'
-Was diao-ed the whole time by this Malaysian woman who was standing in front of me at the immigration counter.
-Realised that Taiwanese are actually quite kiasu too because when a new counter for Taiwan passport holders opened, people from the other queues dashed there straight away and in less than 2 seconds, the queue was snaking already.
-Never seen middle-aged men dash that fast before. Da Kai Yan Jie.
-Met the Taiwan tour guide, Wen dao-yu (dao-yu here meaning tour guide in Chinese and not that the guy's name was dao-yu).
-Sister made 2 new friends Naina and Jimmy while I was still staring into space at the hotel lobby.
-Realised that my sister makes friends damn fast along the whole trip, unlike me. I've never made friends on any other tours I went on before. Yes, I am anti-social/shy, something that my friends scoff at when I tell them so. They keep telling me that I cannot possibly be anti-social/shy because I am so 'bagua'.

-Went to Raohe Street Night Market with the two new friends.

-Taiwan is like filled with dogs or something. Somemore is that kind of large dogs that are not cute at all.

-Of course, there were also cute little dogs too la.

-My Korean class classmate from Taiwan kept telling me about the wonders of Taiwan's bubble tea so I decided to try it.
-I think I seriously traumatised the guy selling bubble tea with my weird questions like 'Which is the most delicious item here?'
-Couldnt read the Chinese words of the drink I wanted and tried to point it out to the guy and he probably thought that I was an idiot or something. How do you read konnyaku in Chinese anyway?!
-Bubble tea was damn delicious. The guy who made the bubble tea looked delicious too. Fu-fu-fu~ :D

-Ate taiyaki there and felt like as if I were in Japan like that. Reminded me of Toukasan.
-Ate 'cong zhua bing' (some onion pancake that tasted like roti prata).

-Saw people selling cannabis. Or rather cannabis incense...Can meh?! Isnt cannabis a drug?!

-And this is Rilakkuma meh?

-Saw Victor eating with that funny tour guide that I never got to know his name. The same guy who told us not to go to Raohe Street Night Market...Why was he there then? :D
-Tasted my first chou dou fu. Smell was horrible but the taste reminded me of Thai sweet-and-sour sauce. Yes, my tastebuds are weird.
-Back to hotel to sleep. Hate bathing in hotels because everytime I do so, I get reminded of the horrible things John Martin Scripps used to do in hotel bathrooms. I should really stop reading real-life murder stories for leisure. It was horrifying to know that I knew almost all the murder cases that they talked about in Forensic Science class. Is this normal? Anyway, this ends my first day in Taiwan.

Went to Partyworld Clementi last month with Shermaine, Sharon, Fiona and Siewting. First time there and was seriously awed by the majestic palace-like staircase. I should have taken a photo of it because that building's in the process of getting demolished now. :(

The sensor thing in the room. I thought that it was a mouse initially and was laughed at by Shermaine, Sharon and Fiona. So evil to me!!! Apparently I wasnt the only one who thought so because Siewting who came later thought the same way at me :D This time, I laughed at her lar~I am such a nice person.
