Went out with Donna last Saturday to get her MCR queue jumpers and to have lunch. Ate at Takashimaya and I had chawanmushi and oyster toji.

The oh-my-god-so-freaking-good chawanmushi. Not that cheap(as compared to the lousy Sakae Sushi one) but not that expensive as well.

Oyster toji. I should've ordered fried oyster curry or something because the oysters in this dish was almost non-existent. They were so pathetically small and I was like eating the batter the whole time. Donna ordered the hire katsu toji set and it was so much more worth it. Maybe because pork is cheaper? Hmmmn...

Walking around Orchard on a Saturday sucks because the people traffic there is seriously bad and the trains are always crowded till the extent that you feel that you cannot breathe at all. Then again, becuase Christmas is nearing, Orchard is like crowded on almost everyday now. Hate it. Hate it even more when irresponsible parents let their whiny kids shout and run about like no ones business. I hope their kids accidentally run off the MRT platform when the train is approaching. :D Okay, too evil but seriously, I really hate kids who cannot sit still and cannot stand not letting the whole world know of their existence. Talking about irritating kids, I was working at my father's place one day and there was one who came for a dental check-up. He was running all over the place and kept opening doors that had the 'NO ENTRY' sign on them. However, when it was finally his turn, he started wailing and ran out of the clinic and refused to come back till his father lured him back with a toy. Sometimes, I pity primary school teachers who have kids like that in their classes.

Li Ming came back from Taiwan and Hong Kong the day before and she got me a cute bookmark and a pair of chopsticks from Disneyland~

Li Ming's brother came back from Japan and he got me this sweet called Tokyo Banana. The English on the wrapper is like really bad and makes no sense at all but the sweet was delicious.

Received the recording of the Korean Speech Contest. OMG, I dont even know if I want to watch it again or not. I'm damn scared of looking at myself deliver the speech. I think I sucked. :D

Went Karaoke with hy yesterday. Although I basically hate Orchard because it's the holiday season right now, I'm totally loving the number of high school students who go to Orchard during this period. There were like quite a few cute Japanese high school boys at the karaoke place. OMG~! Almost died of happiness. Lalalala. I was seated at a strategic position where I could basically see everyone who were there. Slit eyes are like damn sexy~ I should really stop now because if I continue, I'm scared that I might be arrested for being a potential paedophile. :P

Saw two girls who were wearing kigurumis. One Stitch and one Winnie the Pooh. In Japan, that's probably normal but in oh-so-freaking-hot Singapore?! Then again, the weather has been kind of cold recently so I'm guessing that they wore it for warmth. ~_~

Ate sukiyaki yesterday. It was so freaking worth it. I paid around $15~17 and got to eat this!!! The only disadvantage of this dish was that by the time I got through 90% (didnt finish it) of it, I was too full to order the dessert that I was eyeing. At Sakae Sushi, you basically get the hotpot only for this price. No rice included.

hy gave me my early Christmas present yesterday because she was lazy to bring it home and wrap it up. -_-. Haha, thanks anyway! I promise I will read it and will also find the CDs you want in Taiwan :D

TOPIK Test

In September, I took the Test of Proficiency in Korean, or better known as TOPIK. On the 1st of November, results were released via the TOPIK website so I went to check. No matter how many times I tried to log in, I couldnt. The reason being that there was no such registration number. WTF? I'm sure I took the test and that I wrote my registration number correctly. A little chat on MSN revealed that some of my other friends couldnt log in also, hence, I decided to phone the Singapore Korean School for help. The day I phoned them was a Friday and they told me that it was already 6pm in Korea so no one was working already and they could only get back to me on Monday. They then asked me for my phone number and my registration number before ending the call.

On Monday, I phoned the school. The lady who picked up the phone was seriously fucking rude to me.

Lady : You cannot log in? Have you added another 0?
Me : Yes, I did.
The reason why she asked this was because on that day of the exam, they realised that they forgot to add in one more zero to everyone's registration number. WTF? So unprofessional!
Lady : STILL CANNOT LOG IN?!
Me : Yes..(What the...of course la! If not why I call for what?!)
Lady : Okay okay, I'll check again, what's your registration number?
Me : xxxxxxxxxx

With that, she ended the call. I then decided to try my luck at logging into the website and holy smokes! I could log in! No wonder she was so angry. Then again, she had absolutely no right to bark at me. First of all, why ask for my phone number and registration number on Friday when they weren't intending to inform me that they rectified the problem on Monday and that it was okay to log in?! Next, why ask for my registration number again when...up till now, nobody has informed me that I'm able to log in le?! What's wrong man, seriously...

Anyway, logged in. Scrolled down for results. OMFG. Results were like fucking bad.
Vocabulary/Grammer : 50~60 marks (Cant remember the exact results.)
Composition : Cant remember exactly but it was a failing mark.
Listening : 51
Reading : 50+ or something like that.
I logged out and re-logged in. Nope, I didnt type anything wrongly. If I really got such lousy marks for composition, I understand because my composition skills are seriously bad, be it composition in English, Chinese, Japanese or Korean. All of my writing ability got sucked by my sister, explaining why she writes damn well. However, I cant believe that I got 51 marks for listening and 50+ for reading because I thought that these two parts were damn easy during the test. I even left early lor. I'm not boasting here but my listening is good ok! I was so disappointed and pissed at the same time when my friend told me online that she couldnt believe her marks because she got 100 marks for both listening and reading. Thanks, that helped me SO much. My total marks reached the passing mark for Elementary Level 1 but not Level 2 and my aim was actually Level 2. In fact, everyone else who took the test did damn well, according to that friend. Feeling damn pissed, I decided to email the people in Korea to ask if I can do a review on my marks. I'll quote exactly what transpired in the emails.

Me : Hi, I was wondering if I could have a review of my TOPIK test for the 12th TOPIK test? The reason is because I felt that I did quite well for listening and the reading part. Thanks.
Korea : Hello, I supposed that there is no doubt about the result. However if you would like to check your answer sheets, visit our office. You may check only your marking for the mutiple choices, not the statement and composition part. Best Regards.
Me : Where's the office? I live in Singapore.

And...ta-da! No reply up till now. I mean, seriously, if I cant do a review because I live in Singapore, kindly please at least give me a reply. A short 'NO' will suffice...but no reply at all?! That's intolerable! Firstly, I had to pay $50 for the test and I dont even get a letter saying whether I pass or fail. Even when I pass, I dont even get a certificate. Everything is on the website, softcopy. $50 is a lot of money lo, at least to me. JLPT cost me $36 and I got both the results slip and certificate, in hardcopy. Furthermore, the website sucks because so many people couldnt log in the first time. Anyway, I decided that it was my bad luck or I probably really shaded my answers wrongly so I decided to let it go.

Then yesterday, while walking towards the MRT with another classmate, she raised the topic of TOPIK. (Hee, rhyming sentence~) I told her that my results suck damn bad. She then told me to check again because the first time she checked, her results were bad too. However, when she checked a few days later, the results were better. WTF? The results can change? So, I decided to check my results again today. Amazingly, my results improved by leaps and bounds!

Okay, composition still sucks but at least it's a pass and listening marks were good. Reading also. The total marks meant that I passed Elementary Level 2 and not Level 1. WTF? Results really can change man. Scarely tomorrow I check the results change again. Then again, why the people in Korea didnt reply my email if they did a review for me?!

Digressing a little, the main toilet in my house is under renovation and because of that, I have to bathe in the other toilet as if there's water rationing like that. Will blog about it another day because this post is damn long.

Holiday

School's out! I'm so happy~ probably until the day when they release results.

Anyway, I updated my Japanese blog on the Hiroshima Internship trip. If you can understand my lousy Japanese, you can take a look but if you cant understand Japanese, then just look at the photos. There's more photos than words anyway :D
Clicky click

Found myself a part-time job for like 1 week. The pay's not bad and the working hours are good. Well, of course la...I'm working for my father. Haha. I'm damn tired after updating the Japanese blog so I'll probably update this blog sometime later. So till then, see ya~

Joined the 3rd Korean Language Speech Contest held at RELC Hotel today.

Was damn happy to see that the auditorium was freaking empty because it meant that there would be lesser people to face later on when I do my speech. Then again, contestants were supposed to arrive half an hour earlier so probably that's why the auditorium was still empty at that time.

I was contestant number 19 and since there were only 20 participants, it meant that I would be the second last person to give my speech. Great because I can have more time to do some last minute memorisation. Bad because it meant that I will just get more nervous along the way.

Aileen giving her speech on her short stay in Korea.

Weilan giving her speech on the two months that she spent in Korea. OMG, I was damn shocked to see her there cuz the last time I saw her was in Japanese 4 class, or rather, the actual last time was at JCS when we were taking JLPT.

Kit giving her speech on her experience with Korea's culture.

After Kit was me. Every contestant was damn tall so they could just stand in front of the rostrum and they can speak into the mike normally. Only I had to stand on a wooden block to increase my height so I can even reach the mike. Wah lau eh...damn paiseh can! I wonder how many people were giggling downstage. I wasnt wearing spectacles during my speech so basically everyone in the audience was invisible to me but my legs were still shaking like no one's business. I seriously thought that I was going to fall off the block. Then again, my friend commented that I didnt look nervous at all. -_-. Anyway, while I was doing my speech, this guy in the audience kept nodding his head. Either he was agreeing with my speech or he was dozing off. Then again, he wasnt one of the judges.

The soprano who gave a wonderful rendition of 3 songs.

Kids from the Singapore Korean School giving a traditional Korean performance. OMG, one of them was so cute! Ala Tarepanda because he was practically leaning against the drum that was like as big as him.

Ten lucky winners of the $100 Korean food voucher. All the way up till the lucky draw, I was under the impression that contestants were going to get the vouchers because my teacher said so. In the end, turned out that it was the audience who got it. Wah!!! However, luckily one of my friends got it, so we had a oh-my-god-so-freaking-wonderful dinner.

The rest of the lucky draw winners.

Finally, the announcement of results came. This is Ryu Hye Jin Seonsaengnim in hanbok. So pretty!!

The three second runner-ups. The lady in red really gave a wonderful speech!

By the way, I won the second prize and I got a Korean Air air ticket to Korea~! Yippee! Anyway, here's a photo of me and Ryu Seonsaengnim.

Me and Kim Bo Yeon Seonsaengnim, the teacher who helped me edit my script even though she was on a holiday at that time. :D The teacher who helped me practise my speech, Yoon Mi Jin Seonsaengnim, wasn't there but I would still like to say thanks to her here!

Since my friend, Shirley, got the $100 voucher, we went to eat at Ju Shin Jang on that day itself. Yes, we are that kiasu.
(From left) Shirley, Wendy, Aileen, Me.

Wet towels. The suaku us didnt know what these were at first and I seriously thought that it was sugar, till I asked the waitress. When we added water in the bowl and the towels started absorbing, we were like 'OMG, so fascinating!'. Ok, all the people there are probably scared of us now.

The spread.

Some kind of Korean wine that was cold and soothing on the throat, especially when one's eating BBQ.

The meat and mushroom.

Seafood pancheon that was omfg good.

The pork.

Pork No.2

Chicken.

Yup, I totally understood a pregnant woman's feelings when she's in her third trimester after I finished dinner. :D Anyway, I'll end off with a picture of me doing my speech. Photo taken from the blog of the winner of the speech contest. :D
